Keep those 401(k) contributions coming. Consistent investing is the key to growing account balances. That was one of the key messages in an August research report from the Investment Company Institute and the Employee Benefit Research Institute, which found the average account balance increased 50 percent among 401(k) participants who held accounts between 1999 and 2005.
